Enjoying an early Spring!

I didn't realize it had been almost 2 weeks since I have been on here but I know exactly why....the weather!! Mya & Natalie have kept me busy outside. I'll admit I mainly sit in the sun with a good book most days while they play but other days we all have gone hard. Last weekend we took long walks at Pickerington Ponds which was relaxing & beautiful. We've also been practicing t-ball. Mya is signed up to play later this Spring so she got all new equipment & is having fun in the yard. By the time we get inside we are all whipped.

Look Ma! No.....Training Wheels!!!

Even though we worked on it quite a bit last summer Mya just hadn't made up her mind to ride without her training wheels. I even raised them up as high as they would go & she just learned to ride leaning over to one side for a while. Yesterday in the gorgeous weather I decided we were done & took them off. Apparently she agreed because I held onto her seat for about 5 seconds & she was gone! She still has some work to do on getting starting & stopping (& earned some bruises in the effort) but she's riding around like a pro!

A Pretty Uneventful Weekend

For the 1st time in a while we had zero plans this weekend. Not that we stayed home of course, but it has still been nice. Yesterday we took Mya out to see The Lorax. Following what is apparently the movie trend for me it was cute but not nearly as good as I had hoped. Mya seemed to like it though so that's what really counts. We also went shoe shopping. Mya is proving to be as picky as me. We went to no less than 6 shoe stores looking for a particular blend of pink & white on her tennis shoes & never did find it. We ended up with a $20 pair of Princess shoes that will probably fall completely apart in 2 months flat but I'm hoping they get us into Summer.

But the big event of the day was Toys R Us. Yes she just had a birthday hours ago but she got 2 gift cards & they were burning a hole in her pocket. She just HAD to go buy more Lego Friends sets. When she asked for them we honestly thought it was going to be a big waste of money buying even 1 set but apparently we were wrong. I haven't decided if she like building them or playing with them more. My guess is building. She is playing the sets but has already asked when she can have the next one. The biggest one is a house that costs almost $80 & she really wants it. I'm thinking about making it a goal for some reading.

The Official Birthday

Sadly Mya spent her 6th birthday sick. The day starting with vomiting & ended with fever. I firmly believe it was all due to her being over excited about turning 6. We still managed to celebrate a little bit. We did candles, singing & gifts but no actual eating of the cake. Her stomach just wasn't up to it so that had to wait one more night. Sick or not I still think she had a pretty good birthday this year!

A Special Delivery

When I showed up at Goddard today the diretor was oohing & aahing about the beautiful flowers that I had sent to Mya. Only problem...I had no clue what she was talking about. Turns out that Daddy had sent roses to her & didn't mention it to a soul. Mya was SO tickled by them (& as usual I was tickled at what a good Daddy she has!)

Birthday Party Photos

No dressing up for the party this year! She picked this outfit out & all the kids were playing so hard that I didn't have the heart to stop them just to change her into something nicer. So, it was a comfy birthday.

The #1 thing she asked for this year was Lego Friends. Uncle Quinn, Aunt Erin, & Natalie got her 2 sets.

Cake request: chocolate on chocolate....of course!!!

Everyone started singing before we could get the candles lit & made Mya giggle.

The Party Crowd: Jaylee, Avree, Natalie, Evan, & Mya

Everyone hit it hard but Evan did the most damage turning it completely upside down. After that Mya took one more shot & knocked it's whole backside off.

Goody bags full of candy! Funniest part was Evan would only pick up the ones made by Hershey's!

The Family Portion

Today was the party for grandparents & family. Avree & Jaylee came with Grandma Marlene so Mya had 4 little friends here. They all had so much fun it seemed. I think Mya had a fantastic birthday weekend. I'm tired though & have to be up really early tomorrow so I will add more pictures tomorrow.

The Official Sleepover Portion of the Birthday

Well, it may not sound like the greatest birthday in the world to some people but I am almost positive Mya would say hers was off to a great start. We picked up Evan & met Natalie at Rule 3. First, they played 3 games of mini bowling.

Then we headed over to the game room. The plan was to play some games, split up the virtual tickets for junk, & then eat dinner there. The whole place was a mad house & the kids were only half interested in games so I mentioned the park. Believe it or not, they left the game room without even a 2nd thought about all the tickets we didn't cash in. We took them in the park & played until everyone was bright red from the cold.

Since then they have just played & played & played. We got a new hide-a-bed about a week ago so they all curled up on it for about an hour or so until I had to start threatening them.

Next thing I knew it was dead silent. I go up & they are gone. I find them all huddled on the bottom bunk of Mya's bed. I split them up into seperate beds (Natalie on a mattress on the floor) & they finally drifted off to sleep. Evan proclaimed the girls were too giggly. :)

A Suessial Day

Mya had a celebration at school today for Dr. Suess's birthday. All I really got was that she loves this hat (she wore it to the restaurant for dinner tonight) & that they had cupcakes in Suess colors. But whatever else went on must have been a blast because she was VERY excited. I guess it's fitting since we have spent countless hours pouring over the man's books for the past almost 6 years.

Speaking of almost 6 we went to the party store tonight & let Mya pick out all the decorations for her family party on Sunday. I told her she could have anything in the store & she picked Princesses....again. She also really, really wanted a pinata even though the only kids will be Natalie & Evan & then oddly enough she didn't pick one of the 10 different princess ones. She picked a unicorn. I guess it's all fantasy related.

Tomorrow is the Natalie & Evan sleep over!!

The Dreaded? Dentist

Mya had to go to the dentist today to get 2 more fillings. Most kids would have to dragged there kicking & screaming but not her. She just goes with no complaints at all. This time they only used a topical cream to numb one of the teeth. The other one they did without the use of anything. As usual Mya did fantastic. The dentists & assistants always go on about how good she is for her age. The one dentist who placed the fillings even gave her 2 tokens for the toy machine instead of the usual one. I'm always so proud of her.

She also got back on the green road at elementary school today. Every day they start out on the green road but can get a yellow or a red depending on how they behave. Mya has been on the green road every single day this entire school year until yesterday. She was pretty upset about it & was extremely happy to tell me that she was back on the green today.

It's also a happy day because Zane is a officially done in Little Rock!! Yea!!

A Father & His Daughter

Happy Leap Day! Hope everyone did something extra special on this extra day. I sadly didn't have an opportunity since it's a work day/dance night. Life must go on. I told Adam it's too bad it didn't fall on a Saturday because we could have celebrated.. He told me I look for any excuse for a party. Guilty & proud of it!

On February 18th Mya's school held a Father/Daughter night & we just got the above picture back.. They called it a Glitter Ball but that name is very misleading since music & dancing was a small sideline to other activities. It was more like a fun night with games, bouncy houses, face-painting, etc. They couldn't even really dress up because it was held in the new gym & only tennis shoes are allowed. Contrary to her face in the picture Mya & Daddy both had a fantastic time!

Mya's 2 "best friends" in kindergarten are Sydney & Zetta. She was very excited to show them to Daddy while they were there.
